Bacterial predator-prey coevolution with Myxococcus xanthous and Escherichia coli

A predator bacterium (M. xanthus) and its prey (E.coli) were coevolved for ~170 generations and whole genomes of three clones from terminal populations were sequences using Illumina HiSeq. Predator and prey clones were isolated from each of 12 replicated coevolving populations as well as each of six prey-only lineages as well as three surviving predator-only lineages.
