资源简介:
The Changing African Family Project is segmented into 3 projects, which aims to assess family and household structure in African communities. Project 1, titled The Beginning of Family Limitation, focuses on fertility, fertility control and family planning communication. This Project is further split into 2 files, Part A & Part B, where Part B addresses only those female participants who have ever used any form of birth control, traditional or modern. Project 2, titled The Value of Children, studies the social and economic value of children. This study reflects Project 3, titled The Achieved Small Family, which focuses on the nature of complete small families. Some of the topics covered include: information on children (ie. number alive and/or deceased); family planning and birth control; attitudes towards particular family sizes, infertility and death of children; advantages and disadvantages of large and small families; last child's place of birth; how much and type of assistance children can offer their parents; general living situation; and, sexual activity. Background variables include: number of wives in family unit; whether previously married; age; occupation of self, husband and father; income; religion and type of marriage ceremony; age when first married; place of residence at age 10 years; number of children both of own and husband's parents; and, consumer goods owned.
