The lavender and the violet were sent home by the same person (Bert). The lavender from Crannock Chase England (training ground 1917). The violets from France.
The daffodil is attached to a letter sent by Private George Kipps of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards British Expeditionary Force. The letter is dated 3rd April 1915. this is one of several surviving letters from this soldier.
I thought it would be interesting to include surviving examples of flora sent home by soldiers to their loved ones. I wonder if any poppies survive?
