The anaerobic oxidation of methane is mediated by the syntrophic partnership of anaerobic methanotrophic (ANME) archaea and sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB). This is a bulk metagenome sequencing and transcriptome microcosm experiments of methane seep sediment from Santa Monica Basin (sample ID 7142). 4 metagenome-assembled genomes (ANME-2a S7142MS1, ANME-2c S7142MS2, SEEP-SRB1a S7142MS3, SEEP-SRB1g S7142MS4) were reconstructed from sequences with coverage>30. Also, transcriptome sequencing was done on a set of microcosms after 3 and 9 days with different electron acceptors to understand the metabolism and symbiosis in the ANME-SRB consortia.
