ocular surface microbiota in patients with Demodex blepharitis

Demodex blepharitis is caused by Demodex mites that live within hair follicles of the eyelid margin; it induces eyelid margin symptoms, causes ocular surface irritation, and even involves the cornea. In addition to anti-mite treatment, antibiotic eye drops and artificial tear drops have widely been used in the treatment of Demodex blepharitis. Thus, we conducted a study on ocular surface microbiota in patients with Demodex blepharitis and employed these different treatment strategies to explore their efficacy.
