VPRS 14481 Returns of Occupants of Pastoral Lands

This is an artificial series created by the archives to register two returns that have become separated from their original recordkeeping systems. Both collate information regarding pastoral occupation of the lands of Victoria whether by license to occupy or by lease.One record was apparently an enclosure to correspondence with the registered number of 52/2825 and the notation that it was a return to the Colonial Treasurer. It is identified as a Statement of all Occupants of Crown Lands in the Settled, Intermediate and Unsettled Areas of Victoria in Year 1852. This division of lands was defined by the Order-in-Council 1847 with each type of land being able to be leased for differing lengths of time. Details given are the name of the occupant, the extent of the run in acres and the numbers of horses, cattle and sheep utilising the run.The second record consists of an aggregation of information regarding the disposal of every pastoral run held under License for 1860 and 1869 tabled in the Legislative Assembly 1869 and ordered printed. Details given are the name of the run, the licence fee per acre, the area of the run and the annual rent paid.
