WAU015 - Wauyai Ma'ya - Demonstratives and other markers of spatial orientation

This dataset contains elicited data on demonstratives and other markers of spatial orientation in the Wauyai dialect of Ma'ya with Pilipus Gimla (born 1955) and Daniel Gaman, both native speakers of Wauyai Ma'ya. The data includes a questionnaire adapted from Wilkins (1999), 'The 1999 demonstrative questionnaire: 'this' and 'that' in comparative perspective'. The recording of this session is split across two audio files, WAU015-01 and WAU015-02. The session was recorded on 22 February 2023, in Wauyai village (Waigeo island, Raja Ampat regency, Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). This dataset relates to the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian' (PF19@004); additional fieldwork funds were provided by a British Academy Small Grant (SG1920@342).
