Reachability of China's official company registry from outside China: paired-control observations

Two observation sets on whether China's official company-registry hosts answer requests made from outside China. The 2026-08-08 set records HTTP status for the target hosts www.gsxt.gov.cn (521 across one CLI and three browser rounds) and www.creditchina.gov.cn (412 across the same rounds), alongside same-session controls www.gov.cn and www.baidu.com, which both returned 200. The 2026-08-05 set is a paired direct-versus-proxy control across four host classes: Chinese government, Australian government, US government and international organisation. It exists because an earlier claim — that Chinese official portals are unreachable from abroad — was overturned once a full control matrix was run: the decisive counter-example is www.abf.gov.au, which failed from one egress but returned 200 from a Chinese direct connection. A control set consisting only of a Chinese commercial host cannot separate a link fault from target-host behaviour. Boundary: these are point-in-time observations from specific egresses, not a claim about global reachability at any other time or from any other network.
