Thematic Map Creation for Jacutinga, RS: A Practical GIS Exercise for Topographic Analysis

This work presents the creation of thematic maps for the municipality of Jacutinga, RS, using the Geographic Information System (GIS) ArcGIS Pro, focusing on topographic and climatic analysis. It is a self-directed practical exercise, not intended for exhaustive scientific analysis, which explores the generation of maps such as Digital Elevation Model (DEM), slope, aspect, hillshade, Topographic Position Index (TPI), and solar radiation. Data were obtained from ASTER GDEM v3 and processed to highlight relief characteristics and local climatic patterns. The results highlight the usefulness of these maps for urban planning, environmental management, and sustainable agriculture, providing a visual basis to understand the territorial dynamics of Jacutinga. The study demonstrates practical GIS skills and serves as a starting point for future investigations.
