Bioassay data for aircraft deicer and anti-icer formulations and surface water receiving runoff from Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport from 1996-2021

This data release includes two datasets: The first dataset includes results of bioassay (acute and chronic toxicity) tests on five aircraft deicer and anti-icer products, which were tested for determination of the 15-min EC50 (Aliivibrio fischeri), the acute LC50 (Ceriodaphnia dubia and Pimephales promelas), and the chronic IC25 (C. dubia, P. promelas, and R. subcapitata) at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene from 2008 to 2010. The second dataset includes tests of acute and chronic toxicity of water samples collected from three U.S. Geological Survey surface water sites and one storm sewer site receiving runoff from the Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport from 1996 to 2021, using the same four organisms that were tested on the deicing and anti-icing formulations. Test results for undiluted sample water are available in the second dataset. The environmental sample bioassay tests also were conducted at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene.
