Large swathes of South America, especially the Amazonas catchment is currently suffering from significant forest fires. Bolivia is experiencing larger fires than average since 2010. The affected area is a mix of cropland, natural vegetation, marshlands and forests. Several thousands of personnel including volunteers, professional services and the army are involved in response operations. The main hotspots are in the region surrounding Concepcion and San Ignacio. The fires are still not under control and strong winds are affecting the fire propagation.<br>
