MicroRNAs co-ordinate various developmental and physiological processes, including cholesterol metabolism. High fat diet can induce abnormalities in systemic microRNA expression that can aid in the progression or diet-induced hypercholesterolemia. Since a microRNA can regulate a range of mRNAs, alterations in the endogenous level of microRNA can significantly alter the global gene expression. We performed the microarray experiment to understand the changes in the global gene expression in the liver of mice following down-regulation of endogenous miR-128-3p Overall design: A diet induced hypercholesterolemic mouse model was prepared.
