Recreation Potential Map (RPM) for Finland (Improving nature-based tourism accounts: The importance of national data for robust ecosystem service estimates)

Recreation Potential Map (RPM) layers for Finland are part of publication "Improving nature-based tourism accounts: The importance of national data for robust ecosystem service estimates" by Jussila et al. (2026, One Ecosystem). The repository contains the three RPM raster layers used in the nationally adjusted ecosystem service accounting for nature-based tourism, i.e.. spatial proxy layers for accessibility, outdoor recreation facilities and landscape attractivity. The accessibility layer in the repository is an exemplary data layer representing ecosystem accessibility from free-time residences within 20 km distance. Due to restrictions related to the original Building register data, the additional 200m-version used in the study is not provided. The provided 20km-distance accessibility layer is provided in coarser 500m resolution than the original used for accounting.
