Their geographical coordinates range from 44°23′32″N to 45°12′49″N, and 80°46′24″E to 83°02′35″E. This oasis system is composed of 127 individual oases, with a total area of 4,497.00 km².
The main rivers in the Ebinur Lake Basin include the Bortala River, Kuitun River, and Jing River, with mainstream lengths of 265.99 km, 178.49 km, and 127.50 km respectively. The major lakes in the basin are Ebinur Lake and Sayram Lake, with surface areas of 1,445.56 km² and 464.20 km², respectively.
The mountainous region of the Ebinur Lake Basin spans the geographical coordinates between 43°37′47″N and 45°41′19″N, and 79°52′54″E and 85°05′24″E. It covers a total area of 26,591.07 km². This basin is a transboundary watershed, with approximately 99.22% of its total area located within Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. Specifically, 51.96% of this portion falls within the Bortala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, 45.51% in Tacheng Prefecture, 2.06% in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, 0.41% in Shuanghe City, and 0.06% in Karamay City. The remaining 0.78% of the basin's area is located in Kazakhstan.
The mountainous region of the Ebinur Lake Basin is classified into 10 elevation categories. This dataset was developed based on Google Earth imagery, ASTER GDEM 30 m resolution data, and field-measured survey data. The dataset includes the following contents: (1) Boundary data of oases in the Ebinur Lake Basin; (2) Hydrological network data of the Ebinur Lake Basin; (3) Boundary data of the mountainous region of the Ebinur Lake Basin; (4) Elevation classification data of the mountainous region of the Ebinur Lake Basin.
