Cryologger Automatic Weather Station Data

Cryologger automated weather stations were developed to create a robust, easy-to-maintain, low-cost, open-source (https://github.com/cryologger/) tool for real-time monitoring of weather in the polar regions. We are developing these stations with and for community partners in Nunavut. This responds directly to the need for more weather information near communities to support traditional activities and travel safety. Local technicians are trained to maintain the stations and we are developing TV displays so the weather information is readily available in communities. The real-time data is also available at https://cryologger.org/weather/ and will be coming soon to the SIKU app. There are 3 community weather stations networks (run out of Igloolik, Ikpiarjuk, and Mittimatalik). The locations of their respective weather stations were selected by community members (e.g., Hunters and Trappers Associations, SmartICE community management committees) to provide maximum benefit to travellers. Some stations were also deployed for research at the northern coast of Ellesmere Island and are included in this dataset as well.
