Soil ammonia oxidizing bacterial/archaeal (amoA) sequences in natural and agricultural sites in Zambia

Soil microbial communities in 3 sites in Zambia, were collected to be investigated the effects of cultivation on them. All the 3 sites had neighboring 2 land-uses (natural and agricultural (maize)), and both had 3 of 1 x 1 m plots separated from each other by 20 m. Soils were incubated with ammonium sulfate and after one hour of incubation, DNA was extracted. Then, the bacterial amoA gene was sequenced.
