The Imprisonment for Debt Amendment Act 1865 (29 Vict No 284) abolished the imprisonment for debt upon a writ of capias ad satisfaciendum (ca. sa.). The Act now provided that a summons could be obtained by the plaintiff to compel the attendance of the defendant in Court for examination by the judge or the justices.This series contains an index to the summons issued under this Act by the Supreme Court. Details given are the action or cause number, the name of the person against whom the summons was issued, at whose suit and by which attorney, the date of the summons and the amount for which it was issued
