"Water samples were collected from coastal waters of southern Belize along eight transects starting from rivers in the region during 2008. Rivers were North Stann Creek (NSC), Sittee (SR), South Stann Creek (SSC), Mango Creek (MBC/MC), Monkey (MR), Golden Stream (GS), Rio Grande (RG), and Sarstoon (SAR). Five samples were collected at each transect from each river mouth out to waters overlying coral reefs where possible. Sampling sites were spaced approximately 2-3 miles apart. Samples for pesticide analysis were collected during four periods encompassing the dry and rainy seasons: February-March, May-June, August, December.
