The Age Poll was first conducted in March 1971 by the Australian Sales Research Bureau Pty. Ltd. before switching to Irving Saulwick and Associates in April 1975. Conducted in October 1972 this 'Age Poll' is the seventh in the Age Poll series. For this Age Poll, marginal Federal electorates across Australia were surveyed. Topics covered in this survey have a particular emphasis on important issues to the Federal Election on 2nd December 1972. Opinions were sought regarding economic conditions in Australia, opinions of Mr McMahon and Mr Whitlam, most important election campaign issues, personal party political identification and voting intention in the circumstance of differing party leaders. Standard variables are country of birth, education level, religious denomination and frequency of church attendance, occupation of respondent and head of household, marital status, age group, sex, vote intention and vote at last Federal election, and whether on the telephone. The following variables display at least one value which no coding has been provided thus value labels have been adjusted to reflect this; q17, q3b, q4b, q7c, q7d, q7f, q7g, q7i2, q7j1, and sex .
