Observed gravity data in the SE sector of the Etna summit area from the 2024 survey of the EtnaGrav project

The data were acquired during a 5-day field gravimetric survey of 11–15 July, 2024 to fill in the data gaps and to complete the gravity data coverage in the Etna summit area. Terrestrial gravity observations were a challenging task due to the harsh field conditions and the ongoing eruptive activity of the summit craters. The survey was carried out as part of the Trans-National Access project “ETNAGRAV” (project ID: C1_TA3-83-1_1) of the GeoINQUIRE project. These raw gravity data will serve for compiling Complete Bouguer Anomalies.  Spatial coordinates of all gravity points of the survey were determined using GNSS, specifically the Satellite-based Real Time Kinematic (SRTK) method. Data points were positioned primarily in the ETRS89 coordinate system and then transformed to UTM33 projection. Physical heights of the points were transformed from ellipsoidal heights using global geopotential model EGM2008. Horizontal and vertical accuracy achieved for the gravity points is better than 4 cm.
