Gut microbiome of banana pseudostem weevil Odoiporus longicollis (Shotgun metagenomics)

The pseudostem weevil Odoiporus longicollis is a major pest of banana plants, causing serious crop losses. Here, we investigated the whole microbiome of the foregut, midgut, and hindgut of final instar larvae to understand its distribution across the alimentary canal, and the underlying metabolism. The findings of species diversity and species richness of microbiome such as bacteria, fungi and other eukaryotes could be prospected for pest management.
