Beyond the Vibrating Wire: An Ontological Critique of Rosa's Resonance Theory from the Perspective of the Dynamic Mask Framework

Abstract This article provides a rigorous differential comparative analysis of two late-modern diagnostic frameworks: Hartmut Rosa’s(philosophy professor)critical theory of social acceleration and resonance, and the author’s(philosophy researcher)own emergent phenomenological-structural model of existential exhaustion and ontological continuity (IMSEROC). While both philosophical projects identify a profound crisis in the subject’s relationship to the world under late modernity, their ontological starting points, diagnostic vocabularies, and normative horizons diverge in philosophically significant ways. Rosa conceptualizes the crisis as alienation produced by the acceleration of social life, which silences the resonant wire between self and world. His remedy is the restoration of resonant relationships. By contrast, the IMSEROC framework conceives the crisis as ontological exhaustion produced by the political economy of seepage, wherein the subject’s constitutive opacity is algorithmically extracted through an exploitative dynamic mask. Its remedy is the regeneration of ontological continuity and the adoption of an ethics of sufficiency. This paper argues that the fundamental divergence lies in their respective metaphysical commitments: Rosa operates within a relational ontology of resonance, while the author advances a negative ontology of the mask and seepage. The article concludes by assessing the moral and political implications of relocating agency from the content of intentions to the manner of participation in the mask process.
