Diagnosing Upper-Ocean Vertical Exchange from SWOT Sea Surface Height via Knowledge Distillation

This repository contains the code used in the paper “Diagnosing Upper-Ocean Vertical Exchange from SWOT Sea Surface Height via Knowledge Distillation.” The code is developed to reconstruct upper-ocean vertical velocity from sea surface height using a knowledge distillation framework, with the main method referred to as the Density-Aware Network (DenA-Net). The model is trained using high-resolution simulation data and then applied to SWOT observations to estimate vertical velocity, vertical heat transport, and related upper-ocean vertical exchange processes. The repository includes scripts for data preprocessing, Teacher and Student model training, inference, evaluation.
