Pinao'ula: Dragonflies & damselflies of Hawai'i

There are 22 species of damselflies endemic to Hawai'i, meaning that they live no where else on the planet. Six of these species are listed as endangered by the US government. The Hawaiian Odonata (pinao'ula in the local language) include another two endemic dragonflies and a handful of species that are accidentally introduced or arrive naturally as part of long distance dispersal events from elsewhere. Our collection also includes a small number of specimens from Japan from a recent donation. By transcribing the Odonata specimens in the University of Hawai'i Insect Museum, you will help us understand the distribution and habitat requirements of these rare and beautiful animals.This expedition of 607 tasks is fully transcribed and validated.
