VPRS 7355 Index To Convictions In Children's Court

The series is an index to VPRS 10563 Children's Court Registers ehich also includes Commonwealth cases. The index provides entry into the registers through the surname of the child, from which the case number and the date of conviction can be found. If a case was adjourned the case number appears in brackets ( the same case number is used for all hearings.) For the years prior to 1911 the particulars of punishment are also given. Commonwealth cases are written in red ink while children's court convictions are recorded in black ink. In cases where a child was committed for care to reformatory schools or to the Department for Neglected Children, VPRS 7356 contains the maintenance registers, which record the details of maintenance payments by parents to the Department. The existence of further indexes is unknown.
