Upper Paroo Catchment Pest and Weed Control

The Upper Paroo Catchment Cooperative will undertake this project with the sponsorship of South West NRM Ltd. This project will control the spread of a number of weeds (Mother of Millions, Hudson Pear and Coral Cactus) down the Paroo River High Ecological Value Aquatic Ecosystem by addressing them at the source. A combination of chemical and mechanical control will be employed to control weed populations. The project will assist properties downstream eradicate these weeds from their grazing system and reduce the potential impacts they may have on the Currawinya Lakes (Currawinya National Park) Ramsar site. Post-control, the area will be managed using sustainable grazing to assist re-establishment of native flora and return of native fauna.
