资源简介:
The structure and metamorphic development of a mid-crustal shear zone that occurs in the basement rocks east of Mt. Dromedary, South Victoria Land, was determined. The emphasis was on the structural and metamorphic evolution that has occurred in the Koettlitz Group Metasediments, as well as the relationship to the neighboring granites and gabbros. The nature (microstructure, pressure and temperature of formation) and origin of the deformed pegmatite associated with the shear zone was studied. Comparisons of sheared and unsheared gabbro/meta-sediment and foliated granite/metasediment contact was completed by surveying and sampling east of Mt Dromedary in the shear zone and north of Mt Dromedary where the rocks were unaffected by the shear zone. Fieldwork consisted of detailed mapping and sampling of the foliated granite and metasedimentary boundary south of Camp Valley, mapping of metasediment/gabbro contact, composition and structure north of Renegar Glacier, mapping and sampling foliated granite and foliated granite/metasediment boundary, composition and structure of foliated granite and metasediment on the Southern flanks of Mt Dromedary, mapping and sampling on the ridge west of the Dromedary Glacier, on the south side of the Renegar Glacier, Marble Saddle, Walcott Ridge, Glee Ridge and the east side of the amphitheatre.
