Housing Choice Voucher

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) data were acquired directly from the Houston Housing Authority (HHA). The HCV program is a rental assistance program, operated by a local housing authority, which is originally funded by the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD). A local housing authority directly gives a subsidy (a gap between 30% of HCV tenants' income and the maximum rent threshold) to landlords, which helps the HCV tenants have more disposable income. The data include a series of snapshots at irregular intervals, and not all data fields are available with every snapshot. This version contains data curated by the UDP. Curation included: Creation of a unique ID; data cleaning (empty records deleted, standardization of variable names across all years); geocoding, attribution of Census block ID (GeoID)
