Hopeful vs. Hopeless: Labeled Dota 2 Player Messages Dataset

This dataset contains 8,000 annotated chat messages from players in the game Dota 2. The messages, primarily written in English, are categorized as either hopeful or hopeless based on the players' attitudes regarding their success in the game. Considering that most of the messages are short and consist of a few words, the least indication of hope or hopelessness has been used to label them. The dataset includes a considerable amount of offensive language present in the messages, as we aimed to preserve the original dataset content distribution from which these messages were extracted. This dataset aims to enable analyses of emotional states, identify patterns, and develop models or systems that can enhance player support and engagement based on real-time player perception analysis.
