This project aims to characterise the effects of a low-fat and a medium-fat diet on the gut metabolome and the microbiota throughout the gastrointestinal tract of Iberian pigs.

This project aims to characterise the effects of a low-fat and a medium fat diet on the gut metabolome and the gut microbiota throughout the gastrointestinal tract of male and female iberian pigs. Pigs were fed either a low-fat diet (3% w/w) or a medium-fat diet (12 % w/w) for 12 weeks. DNA from duodenojejunal, jejunal (middle), ileal (distal) and proximal colon content as well as from feces was extracted using a modified version of NucleoMag DNA Microbiome kit (Macherey-Nagel, Vertrieb GmbH & Co.Kg). The sequencing of the samples was performed on a NovaSeq 6000 sequencer by Szaomics company (Istanbul, Turkey).
