Mycobacterium smegmatis MKD8 Genome sequencing

Mycobacterium smegmatis is a non-pathogenic, rapidly growing relative of pathogenic mycobacteria that cause tuberculosis or leprosy. Some studies that would be difficult or impossible in the pathogenic strains can often be performed in M. smegmatis.
