Acid and alkaline adaptation mechanisms in Leuconostoc mesenteroides ATCC 8293 elucidated by comprehensive transcriptome analyses. Leuconostoc mesenteroides strain:ATCC 8293

The goal of this analysis is to understand the acid and alkaline tolerant mechanisms in Le. mesenteroides. We carried out comprehensive transcriptome analyses, namely RNA-seq. The results indicated that only limited numbers of genes alternated their expression in response to acidic and basic conditions, allowing us to propose the possible mechanisms how Le. mesenteroides adapt to the pH stresses. Evolutional implications are discussed for how the bacterium has established such mechanisms.
