Fecal bacterial composition from nursery pigs fed 2 direct fed microbials

Nursery pigs (n= 260 / treatment) were fed either a control diet, a 0.2% Lactobacillus-based probiotic + control diet or a 0.2% Bifidobacterium-based postbiotic + control diet for approximately 47 days. Fecal samples were collected on day 10 and on day 47 from 10 representative pigs from each treatment group. Microbial DNA was extracted , amplified for 16S rRNA (V1-V3 regions), and amplicons were sequenced with a Illumina MiSeq 2X300 platform.
