资源简介:
The Changing African Family Project is segmented into 3 projects, which aims to assess family and household structure in African communities. Project 1, titled “The Beginning of Family Limitation”, focuses on fertility, fertility control and family planning communication. This Project is further split into 2 files, Part A & Part B, where Part B addresses only those female participants who have ever used any form of birth control, traditional or modern. Project 2, titled “The Value of Children”, studies the social and economic value of children. Project 3, titled “The Achieved Small Family”, is a study of the nature of complete small families. This study reflects Part A of Project 1. Some of the topics covered include: attitudes to sexual relations after the birth of a child; information about living children; whether the respondent is currently pregnant or how long ago last pregnancy was; whether the respondent was sexually active and if not, the reasons for abstaining; whether the respondent has ever used any means of birth control, been to a hospital or seen a (Western) doctor; place of last childbirth; and, detailed information on attitudes to, and the practice of, family planning. Background information includes age, place where lived as a child, level of education, religion, occupation of father, husband and self, and income.
