Tadarida brasiliensis, commonly known as the Mexican free-tailed bat or the Brazilian free-tailed bat, is a medium-sized New World insectivorous bat. Belonging to the family Molossidae, Tadarida is one of 18 genera that comprise the 4th largest family in Chiroptera. This sample was collected from an adult male in the wild on October 15 2018 at a roost site on the Texas A&M campus in the city of College Station, Brazos County, Texas, USA by Michael Smotherman and used to create at high-quality reference genome for the Bat1K project.
