PacBio sequencing of Drosophila ananassae. Drosophila ananassae strain:14024-0371.13

The Drosophila ananassae Muller F element is substantially larger (> 18.7 Mb) than the D. melanogaster F element (~5.2 Mb; also known as the dot chromosome). This study examines the major contributors to the expansion of the D. ananassae F element. As part of this study, subreads produced by the Pacific Biosciences (PacBio) sequencer were used to verify one of the manually improved region (improved_13034_1) of the D. ananassae F element.
