Circadian rhythmicity in the rhizosphere microbiome under 12:12 light dark conditions

We aimed to investigate whether microbial rhythmicity exists in the rhizosphere at a depth where light does not penetrate. We investigated wild type A. thaliana plants and those with both a knockdown (lhy-11) and overexpression of the core circadian clock gene LHY in addition to unplanted Soil. Samples were collected at 3-hourly intervals over a period of 3 days.
