Study on virus-host interactions affected soil carbon mineralization from rhizosphere of AM and ECM trees

Here, we collected 76 rhizosphere soil samples from 9 forest areas in China across 63 tree species, concluding 42 arbuscular mycorrhizal-dominated soils and 34 ectomycorrhizal-dominated soils. These soil samples covered regions with cold temperate, warm temperate, subtropical, and tropical regions. We use the shotgun metagenomic sequencing to obtain sufficient DNA data to extract the composition and functions of microorganism and viruses. This study examined the carbon mineralization rates, and the relationships with viral community composition and functions, microbial communities and functions.
