THP-1 is a representative leukemia cell line, and has been widely used all around the world since its establishment in Japan in 1980. Differences in THP-1 cells have been reported; however, the THP-1 cell lines have not been accurately classified. Transcriptome patterns of four THP-1 cell lines available from JCRB and RIKEN BRC in Japan; JCRB0112, JCRB0112.1 (corresponding to ATCC TIB-202), RCB1189 (corresponding to DSMZ ACC-16) and RCB3686, have been compared by microarrays.
