Aliarcobacter cryaerophilus from German water poultry

Aliarcobacter cryaerophilus is an emerging foodborne and zoonotic pathogen for humans and animals. In humans the bacteria can cause self-limiting watery diarrhoea. In animals it has been associated with abortion and reproductive disorders. However, little is known about the species' genomic features and diversity, antibiotic resistance and virulence. The goal of this study was to provide new insights into the genomic variability of A. cryaerophilus strains of cluster I as well as information about the antibiotic susceptibility, the antibiotic resistance and the virulence determinants.
