PART 1: Mostly views of men in rowboats used to get to land or motor launches. The men are mostly scientists in the process of gathering marine specimens on expedition(s) of the Velero III, ca. 1931-1941, captained by Allan Hancock. Besides Hancock, Dr. Waldo L.S. Schmitt is in the film. PART 2: Documentary? on Captain Allan Hancock, including, mammal skeletons, possibly from the La Brea pits, on exhibit in the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum; an exhibit from the Velero III Galápagos expedition; the Hancock Ensemble performing in the Music Salon of the Hancock Mansion (includes Hancock on violoncello, William Strobridge on piano, Arthur Jensen on viola, Bartley Hunt on double bass, Catharine Jackson Donaldson on harp); and the Hancock Mansion converted to Pacific Institute of Music and Fine Arts, [1931-1941]. PART 3: Velero III crew (Captain Allan Hancock, Dr. Waldo L.S. Schmidt, Dr. Edwin O. Palmer) visit Dore Strauch and Frederick Ritter (and Rudolph Lorenz) on an expedition to Floreana Island, Galápagos, 1934.
