Sorbus monbeigii (Cardot) N.P.Balakr. is a woody tree of the Maleae, Rosaceae, and is an endemic species to China. The chloroplast genome of S. monbeigii is 160,174 bp in length with a GC content of 36.5%, which consists of a large-single copy region of 88,117 bp, a small-single copy region of 19,251 bp, and a pair of inverted repeat regions of 26,403 bp. The chloroplast genome contains 106 genes, including 74 protein-coding genes, 4 rRNA genes and 28 tRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that S. monbeigii is closely related to S. oligodonta, with both species forming a monophyletic group within Sorbus. The report of the chloroplast genome of S. monbeigii in this study enriches the genome data of Sorbus and provides a reference for future classification and genetic diversity.
