Point-survey of Cussonia spicata population structure

A point-survey of the population structure of Cussonia spicata was conducted in the Colchester-section of the Addo Elephant National Park to monitor the effects of large herbivores. The current baseline survey was started during November 2010, prior to the introduction of elephant. During June 2011, additional individuals were located and marked. Thus, a total of 200 adult C. spicata individuals were permanently marked and the following variables recorded for each: (1) structure, (2) impacts [1-None, 2-Herbivory, 3-Pollarding, 4-Toppling, 5-Coppicing, 6-Dead], and (3) estimated intensity of elephant use. These individuals are surveyed at regular intervals.
