资源简介:
This register, compiled by the Department of Railways, records (retrospectively) particulars of permanent and trial surveys carried out between 1883 and 1953 and was compiled in accordance with the Survey Co-ordination Act, 1949 (Act No.27, 1949). Under Section 4 of the Act, public authorities were required to maintain a register, using the prescribed form, detailing full particulars of every plan held. The register records: Public authority records no.; Type of survey; Scale of plan; Classification; Approximate size of plan and material on which it is drawn; By whom surveyed; Date of completion of survey; Locality including city, town, village, section, street, portion, parish, county; Field and level book numbers; Remarks.A typescript copy of the Survey Co-ordination Regulations 1950 (10 pages) is included in the volume. A certificate under the Survey Co-ordination Act 1949, signed by the responsible officer, shows that a return of plans and surveys from May 1945 to May 1951 covering traverses and levels carried out for the purpose of the Eastern Suburbs and of the City Railway was forwarded to the Surveyor General on 15 October 1952.A typescript index in the front of the volume is divided into permanent surveys, trial surveys, aerial photographs and metropolitan railway extensions with reference to the sheet numbers (from 1 to 323) in the volume.Custody HistoryFrom 1955 until 2000 the State Rail Authority of New South Wales maintained an ‘in house archives’ consisting of the archival records of the Authority, its predecessor agencies and the private railway companies taken over by the government. The date ranges of the records were from 1849 until 2000. When the decision was made to close the ‘State Rail Archives’ the parts of the collection that were required as State archives were transferred to the State Records Authority of NSW. Those record series were incorporated into the State Records series system of archives control and were re-numbered.This series was formerly part of the State Rail Archives collection where it was identified as series R196. It may have been viewed in the State Rail Archives as series R196 and could have been previously cited as such in notes by researchers at State Rail Archives or in publications or unpublished works.
