A dataset of host range of the viruses infecting vertebrates using the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses 2018 Master Species List

We developed a
database of the most up-to-date data of the International Committee on Taxonomy
of Viruses (ICTV) virus species (n=4958) and identified 1479 vertebrate virus
species and their host ranges. We categorised 4958 viruses, of which 2010 were
Animalia viruses including 1479 viruses infecting vertebrate hosts. Vertebrate
viruses were further classified as human (n=404), bat (n=219), rodent (n=186),
non-human primate (n=206) and livestock (n=267) viruses.
