NRS-16134 | Newcastle Western Suburbs Hospital Feasibility Study

This Study addresses the feasibility of the redevelopment of the Newcastle Western Suburbs Hospital as a nursing home for the elderly after the closure of its maternity facilities. It was prepared by Suters Architects Snell for the Hunter Area Health Service, in consultation with the quantity surveyors WT Partnership; two enclosed items of correspondence identify this as the copy forwarded to Mr D. MacKinnon, Executive Officer of the Hospital, in February, 1991. The several parts of the existing hospital buildings are evaluated for retention, conversion or demolition in terms of their suitability, historic significance and state of repair.
