Nemabiome - ITS2 deep amplicon sequencing of trichostrongyles from the feces of North American bison from the mid-western USA

This study investigates gastrointestinal trichostrongyles of Clade V that infect North American bison in the midwestern United States. Fecal samples were collected from bison, fecal floats performed to enumerate eggs, and feces cultured and third stage larvae were isolated. DNA was extracted from the larvae and the ITS2 was amplified with PCR. PCR amplicons were library prepped and sequenced on an Illumina MiSeq. Raw data is provided in this SRA submission. By using this methodology, insights can be gained into the prevalence and diversity of these parasites in bison populations.
