Observational Uncertainties Across Heatwave Related Metrics

Data included in this repository is for the submitted paper, Observational Uncertainties Across Heatwave Related Metrics. Data for figures is included in netcdfs by dataset in format {Data}_Metrics.nc. Individual heatwave related metrics are stored as variables within each netcdf. Also included is the .shp, .prj, .shx, .dbf, and .cpg files used for delineation of the twelve regions of unique heatwave characteristics found within the contiguous USA. Note, ALCC files refer to the E3SM_RRM dataset. Scripts to produce the data found in these netcdfs were run on NERSC's Perlmutter. Heatwave days were defined based on the criteria of two-or-more consecutive days in which the local daily maximum temperature exceeded the local annual 95th percentile of daily maximum temperature. Data from 1985-2014 was included. Heatwave days were identified across all datasets using TempestExtremes https://climate.ucdavis.edu/tempestextremes.php.
