We report that bone marrow transplantation suppresses atherosclerosis by reducing LDL accumulation in the intima. Radiation exposure enhances endothelial endolysosomal trafficking and cholesterol efflux pathways, thus preventing reducing the abundance of LDL particles that traverse the endothelial layer to deposit in the sub-endothelial space. A comparison of Ldlr mouse aortic arch isolates from Control and bone marrow transplanted mice. Each group is represented in standard chow fed and cholesterol rich diet fed (5 days). There are 2-3 replicates per sample. In addition, aortic arch intimal samples from standard chow fed Ldlr and bone marrow transplanted mice (10 mice each, pooled) were subjected to single cell RNA seq.
