W-Cu composites are candidate materials for heat sink components in nuclear fusion reactors, but there is a paucity of information on the interaction between W and Cu phases, specifically under fusion relevant conditions. Here we propose using in situ neutron diffraction during high temperature tensile loading to elucidate the contribution of the individual phases to the mechanical properties of the composite as a whole.
